The index

Seven initiatives.
One record format.

Each one owns an outcome rather than a sector, and each one is documented the same way — council, partners, funding, measured outcomes — so they can be compared on the same terms.

  • Live initiatives Seven, numbered 00 to 06
  • Every record contains Advisory council · Partners · Funding sources · Measured outcomes
  • Outside the seven If a challenge does not fit any of them cleanly, that is often the more interesting conversation.

How the index is organised

Numbered, not ranked

00 through 06 is an index, not a priority order. The numbering exists so an initiative can be referenced unambiguously in a council paper, a funding conversation or an intake form.

Advisory council
The practitioners this specific outcome needs in the room. Different for every initiative — an energy engineer is not interchangeable with a health informaticist.
Partners
The organisations that deliver: operators, institutions and networks with reach in the places the work has to happen.
Funding sources
The instruments that fit the work. A climate initiative and a food security initiative do not raise money the same way, and the record says which lines each one draws on.
Measured outcomes
What counts as finished, fixed at design time and reported against. This is the part that makes two initiatives comparable.

00

Initiative Health

AI-enabled healthcare

AI-enabled healthcare systems.

Interoperable records, decision support, and diagnostics that work in low-resource settings. The constraint is rarely the model. It is whether the data can move between the clinic, the lab, and the ministry at all.

Advisory council
Clinicians, health informaticists, ministry of health data leads.
Partners
Hospital networks, diagnostic labs, health information exchanges.
Funding sources
Global health funders, ministry budgets, technology partners in kind.
Measured outcomes
Facilities interoperable · time to diagnosis · records exchanged · clinician hours returned.

01

Initiative Climate

resilience and clean energy

Climate resilience and clean energy.

Distributed energy and adaptation infrastructure, prioritised by where failure would take the most other systems down with it.

Advisory council
Energy engineers, climate scientists, resilience planners.
Partners
Utilities, renewable developers, regional planning authorities.
Funding sources
Climate finance, green bonds, energy access funds.
Measured outcomes
Clean capacity installed · outage hours avoided · emissions displaced · people served.

02

Initiative Zero

digital inclusion

Digital inclusion for underserved communities.

Connectivity, devices, and digital skills for the communities that every other initiative depends on reaching. Zero underwrites the rest: a population that cannot get online cannot be served by any of the systems the other six are building.

Advisory council
Telecom regulators, community network operators, digital literacy educators.
Partners
Infrastructure providers, municipal governments, local training organisations.
Funding sources
Universal service funds, corporate infrastructure partners, development finance.
Measured outcomes
Households connected · devices placed · digital skills certified · cost per connected household.

03

Initiative Talent

workforce and leadership

Future workforce and leadership development.

Training people to run the systems the other initiatives install. A deployment that leaves when the funding leaves was never an initiative. It was a pilot.

Advisory council
Universities, employers, vocational institutes, alumni networks.
Partners
Technology firms, public sector employers, professional bodies.
Funding sources
Employer sponsorship, education funders, workforce development grants.
Measured outcomes
Learners certified · placement rate · retention at 12 months · local operators trained.

04

Initiative Food

agriculture and food security

Agriculture and food security.

Yield, storage, and market access for smallholder farmers, with the data infrastructure to make each of those legible to lenders and buyers.

Advisory council
Agronomists, cooperative leaders, agricultural economists.
Partners
Farmer cooperatives, agri-processors, logistics operators, lenders.
Funding sources
Agricultural development funds, blended finance, buyer offtake commitments.
Measured outcomes
Yield per hectare · post-harvest loss · farmers reached · income per household.

05

Initiative Cities

smart and resilient communities

Smart and resilient communities.

Urban systems that hold up under stress: transit, water, waste, and public safety data working as one estate rather than seven procurement contracts.

Advisory council
City managers, urban planners, civic technologists.
Partners
Municipal governments, transit authorities, utility operators.
Funding sources
Municipal budgets, urban development banks, civic technology grants.
Measured outcomes
Services digitised · response times · service coverage · resident satisfaction.

06

Initiative Africa

regional development and diaspora

Regional development and diaspora engagement.

The initiative that connects the other six to capital, expertise, and networks held by the diaspora, and routes them back into regional development that the diaspora itself has a stake in.

Advisory council
Diaspora business leaders, regional development bodies, returnee entrepreneurs.
Partners
Chambers of commerce, regional institutions, investment platforms.
Funding sources
Diaspora investment vehicles, regional development finance, philanthropy.
Measured outcomes
Capital mobilised · ventures supported · expertise placements · jobs created.

Outside the seven

Bring us an initiative

Seven is where the work is today, not a closed list. If the outcome you want to move does not fit any of them cleanly, that is often the more interesting conversation — and it is the one the intake is built to capture properly, in one pass, rather than over six emails.
