Guided intake

Tell us what you are bringing

This is not a contact form. It is the discovery conversation, done once and done properly — so that when a person picks it up they already understand your situation and can be useful in the first reply rather than the fourth.

You are only asked the questions that follow from the path you choose. Nothing is submitted until the final step, and you can go back and change any answer before you send it.

  • Time Six to ten minutes, depending on your path
  • Steps Nine, with a review before anything is sent
  • Your answers Kept in this browser as you go, so a refresh does not lose them

Your progress

Prefer to talk first? Call (703) 540-0291.

Step 1 of 9

What would you like to do with TGIF?

Pick the closest one. Everything after this step is chosen from your answer here, so a media request never sees a procurement question and a funder never sees a speaker brief.

What would you like to do with TGIF?
What are you mainly bringing?

Three quick questions and this page will suggest the closest path. You can always override the suggestion.

Which describes you best?
How far along is it?

Step 2 of 9

Which initiative is this closest to?

Tick everything that applies. If you are not sure, say so — placing an inquiry correctly is part of what this process is for.

Which initiative is relevant?

A sentence or two on the outcome you have in mind and why none of the seven covers it.

Step 3 of 9

You and your organisation

So the right person can come back to you, and so the conversation starts from the correct assumptions about who you can commit.

A work address wherever possible — it tells us which organisation the inquiry belongs to.

Include the country code.

Optional. Include the country code if you would rather be called.

Optional, but it saves a research step at our end.

Are you authorised to represent this organisation in this conversation?

An honest "not yet" is genuinely more useful than a hopeful yes.

Step 4 of 9

What are you trying to move?

This is the part that decides whether an initiative can hold your work. Write it the way you would explain it to a colleague, not the way you would write a proposal.

As much context as you can give. A question with context can be answered once; a question without it becomes four emails.

State the result, not the activity. "Records reach the clinic that is treating the patient" is an outcome; "a data project" is an activity.

What is actually in the way right now.

The people or institutions carrying the problem today.

Country, region, city, or "not yet decided".

Optional. Previous attempts, and why they stopped, are usually the most informative thing in an inquiry.

Ideally something that could be measured. What would be true afterwards that is not true now?

What kind of support do you think TGIF could provide?Optional

Tick anything that applies. This is your reading of it — it does not commit either side.

Step 5 of 9

Questions specific to your path

These are the details that decide whether a first conversation can be useful, and who from TGIF should be in it.

Studies, internal data, field experience, or an honest "mostly observation so far".

Does a concept, pilot or programme already exist?

Optional. Names are useful but "two hospitals and a regulator" is useful too.

Design it, convene the council, help fund it, hold it end to end, or something else.

Do you have documentation you can share?

Capabilities, not credentials. What work could you take on inside an initiative?

Delivery, reach, staff, facilities, technology, data, funding, or convening power.

Optional, and no case study needed — a sentence is fine.

People, time, facilities, equipment or budget.

Can you authorise a partnership on your side?

Thematic, geographic, or anything your board requires.

Frequency, format, and anything your own funders require of you.

So we can tell you now what we can and cannot supply.

Has this funding already been approved internally?
Have you served on a board or advisory body before?

Optional. Councils are partly a convening function.

Current roles, holdings or relationships that touch this initiative. "None that I am aware of" is a valid answer.

Optional — or attach a CV in the documents step.

Connectivity, power, devices, facilities — including where it is unreliable.

The ones this would have to live alongside.

Residency, classification, audit, and anything your regulator imposes.

Roles are enough.

If it is not you.

Be specific about anything involving personal or clinical data.

Is ethics or institutional approval in place?
Is the research funded?

Data sharing, co-design, evaluation, secondment, joint supervision.

What it does, in plain terms.

APIs, standards, exchange formats. Healthcare interoperability standards are directly relevant to Initiative Health.

Certifications, audits, data handling — and honestly, gaps.

Hosting, connectivity, power, client devices. Whether it degrades gracefully matters more than peak performance.

Optional. Sectors and scale are enough if names are confidential.

Licences, engineering time, infrastructure, integration work.

What could you bring?

Optional, and an estimate is fine.

Initiative Africa exists to route capital, expertise and networks back into regional development that the diaspora itself has a stake in.

Or the window you are working to.

Or "remote".

Length, live or recorded, moderated, on or off the record.

Including any preparation you would need.

Step 6 of 9

Timing and resources

"Not yet determined" is a real answer here and is treated as one. It is far more useful than a number invented to fill a box.

How would you describe the urgency?

A range is enough. Nobody is held to it.

Is the funding secured?
Is there a team on your side?

Optional. Existing partners, funders or suppliers already attached to this work.

Optional. A board meeting, a budget deadline, a funding round.

Would this have to go through a formal procurement process?
What do you already have written down?Optional

Optional. You can attach any of these in a later step.

Optional. A role is fine — "the permanent secretary", "our programme director".

Step 7 of 9

How and when to reach you

So the first attempt to reach you lands inside your working day rather than at 3am.

Preferred contact method
Which days suit you?Optional

Detected automatically where possible — correct it if it is wrong.

Should anyone else be copied in?

One per line, up to three. Only addresses that belong to people who are expecting to hear from us — every address is validated and the list is shown back to you before anything is sent.

Step 8 of 9

Supporting documents

Entirely optional. Nothing here is required for any path, including a general question.

A proposal, concept note, organisational profile, research brief, funding document, CV or project overview.

Choose files, or drop them here Nothing is uploaded until you send the inquiry.

PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OpenDocument, RTF, TXT, CSV, PNG, JPG
Up to 5 files · 10 MB each

Step 9 of 9

Check and send

Everything you have entered, in one place. Edit any section before you send it.

Fields marked are required. Everything you send is validated again on the server, so a slip in the browser cannot lose your inquiry.
